1970〜80年代に生まれた世代からすれば、日本でもフィリピンでも、幼少の頃に初めて触れた音楽が例えばメタリカであっても不思議はない。インターネットを介さずとも、それが自分たちの土地のものでなくとも、音楽は海を渡りアジアの島国で純度高く解釈された。大事なのはそれが「再解釈」ではなく「解釈」であったということではないだろうか。これはある種のマイナーな地政学の結果である — 既存の文化のローカルな再解釈・脱構築、その副産物としてのエキゾチズムへの期待に抗い、「メタル」の轟音を愚直に讃える新作。
For generations born in the 1970–80s, either in Japan or Philippines, it is no wonder that the music one encountered in childhood was, for example, Metallica. Without the Internet, regardless of its geographical origin, music travelled across the water to be interpreted and distilled. It might be important that that was not “reinterpretation” but “interpretation,” which is the result of a kind of minor geopolitics — the new work is a genuine praise for the roar of the “metal” music and a resistance to the expectation for reinterpretation, deconstruction and their by-product, i.e., exoticism.

A three-piece band with a guitar, bass and drums formed by the Dela Cruz brothers. Strongly influenced by American metal and hardcore music, they physically sublimated it into their music and have been playing as the pioneering Filipino hardcore band.

2006年に垣尾優と塚原悠也により結成。肉体の衝突を起点とする独自の牧歌的崇高論を樅築し、即興的なパフォーマンス作品や映像、写真作品の制作、マガジンの編集などを行う。contact Gonzoとは、集団の名称であると同時に彼らが実践する方法論の名称でもあり、その背後には山がある。現在、事務所を自分たちで作りながら、様々な果物を時速100キロで身体に打ち込む行為や山中の斜面を滑り降りる「山サーフィン」を開発。現メンバーは塚原悠也、三ヶ尻敬悟、松見拓也、NAZEの4名。2011年より公益財団法人セゾン文化財団助成対象アーティスト。

Formed by Yu Kakio and Yuya Tsukahara in 2006. Developing a unique and pastoral theory on the sublime on physical collision, they create improvisational performance, video and photo works and edit magazines. “contact Gonzo” is the name of the group and at the same time the name of their practice and methodology, behind which there is a mountain. Currently they have been constructing their office and developing techniques for shooting fruits onto the body at 100 kilometers an hour and “mountain surfing,” a downhill gliding race. The current members are Yuya Tsukahara, Keigo Mikajiri, Takuya Matsumi and NAZE. A Saison Foundation grantee since 2011.
