「ダンスは毒であり、薬である。」 振付家としての活動と並行してダンス研究にも関わる児玉北斗が、現代思想、舞踊史、そしてクラブ・カルチャーを参照しつつ『Pure Core』で考察するのは、初期モダンダンスにおいて鬱々とした疎外の経験を表現した「踊る身体」や、日本の風営法による規制対象として排除と偏見にさらされてきた「踊る身体」である。2020年12月に京都で初演を迎え、その芸術的・理論的な強度によって圧倒的な評価を得たダンス作品の記録映像を、期間限定でオンライン配信。また、創作と並行して進められたウェブ企画「ダンスをめぐる12の文章」に関連したオンライン・トークも開催し、児玉を始めとしたアーティストや研究者たちがダンスの実践をめぐる現代的な問題系について議論を展開する。
"Dance is a poison and a cure." For a long time, the dancing bodies at the clubs have been repressed by the law in Japan, for their "atmosphere of enjoyment" may cause improper behaviors. Taking references from postmodern philosophy and dance history, Hokuto Kodama explores such excluded bodies as the mirror images of the early modern dance's "Alien Bodies", where their expression of alienation drew audiences' empathy. "Pure Core" lets the audience dive into the politics of dancing bodies in the club like hardcore environment, and it has quickly gained critical acclaim for its artistic and intellectual achievement upon its recent premiere in Kyoto.
