Theater Company Sunachi is appearing once again in Kichijoji Theatre in February 2017! This time, their performance is one rooted in Greek tragedy: a tale of authority and the masses, and of sinful humans who inhabit society, Yuta Funaiwa’s screenplay restructures and rehandles classic Greek tragedies that follow the fate of the House of Atreus, building on Aeschylus’ Oresteia trilogy by combining it with its Euripidean prequel and sequel. We hope you come and see this modern tale of crime and punishment.
Theater Company Sunachi
Theater Company Sunachi was established in 2007 as a production group led by director Yuta Funaiwa. Since debuting with its performance of Schiller’s The Robbers, the company has since produced many dramatic performances with actors cast through workshops and auditions. In January 2013, Theater Company Sunachi was selected for the “Theatre Tram Next Generation”, and put on an original play titled Disk, which dealt with the theme of generations. Recently, the company put on Utawanai Fuyu (“Winter of No Songs”) in August 2015 with funding from the Arts Council Tokyo Grant Program, and Hamlet in May 2016 with funding from the Japan Arts Council’s Grant for Culture and Arts Promotion.
