The Land of Mothers is an imaginary place inhabited by only mothers. It appears only when the performers and the audience are in the place.
Although fathers and children are never there, they still act as “moms.” They cook, wash, and wait for someone to come back.
This play has been improved through visiting some “houses” and being previewed there.
All mothers are performed by male actors. They should surprisingly look like their own mothers.

This non-text performance will be performed by Kubikukuri Takuzo, a performer/actionist from 60’s avant-garde who has been hanging his neck everyday for ten years, and Tomoko Ando, a former actress of Tenkei Gekijo company led by Shogo Ohta. Each of them pursues their physical expression in their own unique way. The production seems humorous and somehow melancholic. Another Macbeth is played by people who always conspire with the established roles.

Kenobi draws out the way of directions from a play with only one line: “What is the thing that should be possible.” Those directions can be used in any daily situation such as your workplace to make it better. You can come in and go out as you like, during the time the directions are exactly occurring. You too can actually either do, or do not, the “directions” handed out there.〈flyer〉

The IDIOT SAVANT theater company was founded in 2005 and it has developed an alternative style of performance that weaves filmed images, contemporary music and the lyrical texts composed by Koh-Toh-Shi, the founder, a writer-director, and a poet. Pursuing its own theory of body expression, company’s specific style, “Impassioned tableau theater - expressing less to enhance audience’s imagination” has evolved. The company still advances to create and convey the unique theatrical space. This time, the IDIOT SAVANT theater company collaborates with “Tsugaru-jamisen”, a three-stringed instrument, along with motion pictures of the deep snow fallen in the serene mountain. 〈flyer〉

Acclaimed Indigenous choreographer Santee Smith (Canada) and one of the most recognized Ainu musicians, OKI (Japan) collaboratively create an engaging contemporary performance using elements of music, dance and design. Smith’s choreography is renowned as a new form of dance expression by fusing traditional Indigenous and contemporary dance. OKI has won praise worldwide for creating new sounds by blending melodies of the tonkori - the traditional stringed instrument of the Sakhalin Ainu - with other forms of music. “Susuriwka,” meaning “willow bridge” in the Ainu language, crosses borders and connects two world established artists revealing Indigenous worldviews.〈flyer〉

This solo piece of 45 minutes is danced in silence, with neither lighting changes nor scenic art, based on the concept that what is most interesting is the body being interesting. This piece focuses on the meaning and meaninglessness generated from movements and gestures, as well as the speed and time in which they are transmitted. A piece that keeps developing and evolving, while revising the last scene according to the venue of the presentation.
