Taipei Notes written and directed by Oriza Hirata is a co-production of Voleur du Feu Theatre, Seinendan and Taipei Arts Festival. The piece is going to be presented in Taipei next summer. Hirata and Keng Yi-Wei, the director of Taipei Arts Festival, talk around the piece that will have just been world premiered in TPAM Direction.
Oriza Hirata
Born in Tokyo in 1962. The artistic director of Komaba Agora Theater and Kinosaki International Arts Center, and the leader of the theatre company Seinendan. He is a specially appointed professor of the Organization for COI at Tokyo University of the Arts, a visiting professor at the Osaka University Center of the Study of Communication-Design and a visiting professor / special counsel to the president of Shikoku Gakuin University. In 1995, he received the 39th Kishida Kunio Drama Award for his Tokyo Notes. In 2011, he was awarded the L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres of the French Ministry of Culture.

Yi-Wei Keng (Artistic Director, Taipei Arts Festival)
Yi-Wei Keng is the artistic director of Taipei Arts Festival (2012-2017) and a visiting assistant professor of theatre arts at Taiwan University of Arts and Taipei University of the Arts. He had won the first prize from Ni-Kuang Sci-Fi Awards. Recently‚ he made the productions of Beckett’s Happy Days and Robert Ashley’s opera Dust. He has written books including The Making of Robert Wilson’s Orlando‚ Robert Wilson: The Infinite Power of Lights‚ Reading in Taipei and The Short History of Modern Mime. He has also translated such books as Peter Brook’s Empty Space and Cambridge Introduction to Theatre Studies.
