On March 11th, 2011, a woman living in a port town in Fukushima lost her beloved husband when he was swept away by the tsunami. The voice you can hear in the theater appears to be her own. Archival records, actors, video, voice, and simultaneous interpretation between Japanese and English are woven together in this documentary performance!
Hamanaka Company
Founded in 2014 by Artistic Director Shun Hamanaka. Through the use of documentary methods including interview-based fieldwork, video records, and the creation of an archive, Hamanaka Company engages with both regional and social issues and also the universal problems of humanity. From its founding, the company has continuously created a documentary performance series depicting Ohisa area, located in Hisanohama, Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture.
